Confessions of a domestic goddess

One of my online BFF's Mrs. Priss, tagged me as a Truly Authentic Mom. First off I have to say thanks! You are too sweet:)

So basically I have to share 5 things that I think make me a Truly Authentic Mom. And here it goes:

  1. Landon has had a bath every single night no matter what, ever since he was 3 weeks old. Complete with his special "bedtime lotion," massage and getting his hair brushed. Honestly, I think he looks forward to his bathtime as much as I do! It's our special mommy and baby time.
  2. We've had Landon sleep with us twice. Both times right after we brought him home from the hospital. And both times totally stressed me out because I thought I'd forget he was on my chest and he'd fall off the bed or I'd roll over on him. After that, he was in his pack and play in the front room and then a couple months later, we finally moved him into his crib. Peanut has never been a fantastic sleeper and started consistantly sleeping through the night at 7 1/2 months (7pm-7am). And believe you me...it was a long 7 1/2 months!
  3. I am completely OCD when it comes to having everything he wears match. Even the onesie that goes under his blanket sleeper has to "go" with each other. A bit ridiculous because who even sees him for the most part except me and Jesse:) Aaaand it's a bit of a problem when it comes to shopping at Gymboree because I can't just get the cute top and call it good. I have to get the top and the matching pants, the socks, the little beanie, the zip up hoodie...gah. I'm sorry Jesse...I'm sorry.
  4. For whatever reason, Landon hasn't ever sat down and watched TV for an extended period of time. I've tried a couple of times to put "Baby Songs" on for him but it just doesn't catch his attention. Maybe he's still a bit young or perhaps we haven't found that one special show that he'll love. It would be nice if something fun would keep him occupied for 15-30 minutes so I could get some things done without him being under my feet all the time. He does enjoy the Friends theme song though. Quite darling actually:)
  5. And finally...I'm not perfect. Duh, right? I've learned something new every single day and honestly, it is rare for a day to go by where I don't talk to my mom on the phone. Either for some advice or to vent or just to share something cute or funny that Landon did. All I really hope is to be half the mom that my mom is. Being a mom is fabulous but it is truly challenging sometimes:)

Okay, and now I tag you lovely ladies:

I might have a problem.

Landon's new shoes! ::does MAD HAPPY DANCE::

Can I just say that I LOVE BABYSTEALS.COM! Ahhh! Good grief, it pretty much completes my life. I had recently bought Landon some new UMI shoes off of Hautelook.com for 1/2 off but after I placed the order, I noticed I ordered one size too big. I was a bit bummed but knew that he'll eventually grow into them and I would get him some different ones until he did. So today I innocently log onto babysteals (just to look) and was excited to see that they were offering UMI puggles for $14.98!!! (Yeah, I pretty much squealed out loud. Landon was looking at me like "my mom is totally crazy.") But seriously...$15 for UMI baby shoes?! New shoes cost that at Target:) So, Yay!
And on as side note...did you know that there is a kidsteals.com and SCRAPBOOKSTEALS.COM?! Gah. I seriously need to freeze my debit card in a block of ice.
***Edited to say that I received an email from babysteals this morning saying that they oversold on his size, and I wouldn't be getting them after all. Please excuse me while I go bawl my sad little eyes out. :(

02 December 2009

happy sighs...

Today was a good day.

Landon woke me up this morning at 7:15 and after breakfast and playing for a bit, he went down for an hour and a half nap. After he woke up we had lunch, (we have been sharing grilled cheese sandwhiches and peaches lately...yum!) we were off to the mall for a bit. We picked up his Christmas pictures at JC Penney's and found my little sister's birthday present and just walked around for awhile. After we got home, it was time for another nap and when he woke up, daddy was home! (Hurrah for that!) Then we had dinner, bathtime, snuggle/bottle time and then he was off to bed.

I'm just so thankful for my little boy.

He is the most amazing thing in the world. I can't believe he's mine!

Christmas sneak peek even though it's still November...

My nativity...absolutely love this.

The greatest Christmas book you will ever own. Period.
Takes me back to my childhood and I like it.

Not sure if you can tell just how tall this tree is but yeah, it is huge!
(Yay for super tall Christmas trees!)

Landon's "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornament.
For our little peanut;)

Love these paint cans! So fun.
:)
...more to come as we actually get into December!

10 months old!!!

Things I want to remember:

  • He's a walking fool! Instead of crawling after me, he now walks after me everywhere I go. In the span of a week, he went from taking 3-4 steps to straight up chasing after me.
  • He eats everything I put in front of him. It's fantastic to be able to feed him off my plate instead of heating up pureed baby food!
  • His sleeping has been great! (Aside from this last week where he had a small cold.) For the most part, he'll go down around 7 and be up between 6 and 7am. SO nice!
  • He says "mama" and "dada" although I'm not sure that he really knows what he's saying quite yet.
  • He virtually has no stranger anxiety and loves everyone. (For now at least!)
  • He's finally, finally, finally getting cuddly. He snuggles on my shoulder when it's naptime and before bedtime. I love it!
  • He loves bathtime!

All of a sudden he's this big boy...I cannot believe that we're coming up on one year- already:)
